4 Kilos Grimalt y Caballero 2015
4 kilos is a winery in Mallorca that is really making waves in the Spanish wine scene for its fresh and fruity reds from a region people knowbetter for its holidays than wine. The winery demonstrates how great wine can originate from unlikely corners. It was set up in Mallorca in 1996 by ex-Anima Negra winemaker Francesco Grimalt and musician Sergio Caballero. They have used indigenous grape varieties such as Callet and Fogoneu and vinify the wines in a converted sheep farm in open top oak vats.
This is really big and rich, with lots of dark plum and cherry fruit, chocolate and cocoa beans with some vanilla spice too. Amazing stuff!
Grape: 60% Callet and 40% Fogoneu of course.
