Grochau Cellars Eola Amity Pinot Noir 2015
Grochau Cellars, was established in 2002 by John Grochau with a view to making elegant, complex wines with low intervention and without huge oak use. We think Jon's wines are wonderful examples of Oregon Pinot – typically nuanced with fresh acidity and the hallmark cranberry and earth notes of the Willamette valley.
Eloa-Amity is a range of hills in the north/centre of the Willamette valley region. This cooler climate, hillside exposition and the volcanic soils here give what John feels are most defined, concentrated and balanced wines. A little density here and more earthy complexity. Very fresh fruit and acidity too but packing some additional darker berry notes and more robust tannins.
