Stepp Riesling 2016
Gerd Stepp is based in the Pfalz (aka the Rheinpfalz) region of germany, and makes some wonderful, modern wines from quite a large range of different grape varieties. The Pfalz is somewhat unusual wine-wise for Germany with dry styles to the fore and plenty of red wines being made. I reckon it is currently Germany’s most interesting region, and the pace of change there has been amazing.
This Riesling is dry, bracing with loads of stone fruit, citrus and a lovely minerality on the finish. Great balance of fruit and acidity, this is really refreshing and delicious!
