Mora & Memo Nau Cannanou 201
A rich, spicy red from Sardinia. Although the island is Italian, for much of its modern winemaking history it was governed by Spain, and many of its distinctive local grapes are Spanish in origin. Cannanou is Grenache or Spanish Garnacha. The 30 year old vines are only 500kms from the sea, and the warm climate and coastal breeze produce a really rich wine, with forest fruit flavours, spice and a hint of coastal herbs on the finish. Winemaker Elisabeta took over the estate from her father and stopped selling the grapes to the local co-op. She now runs it with her three daughters and makes really characterful wines from the islands distinctive grapes.
