Mas del Perie Escures 2017
Cahors is a small appellation in SW France where Malbec is the main grape variety. Fabien Jouves took over this estate from his father in 2006 and now runs it biodynamically. This is 100% Malbec, from 25 year old vines planted in the highest and coolest location in the Cahors appellation. It’s been aged in concrete tanks on fine less for 10 months. There’s no oak influence and minimal sulphur is used in the winemaking.
Lovely lifted fruit on the nose—very inviting. The palate is deep and full bodied, but has a silky texture, with surprising soft tannins. There’s lots of sweet berry fruit along with a lick of spice and earth on the finish.
