Avignonesi Rosso di Montepulciano 2016
Avignonese are the most important and highly regarded estate in Vino Nobile de Montepulciano. The wines are really tasty –the clay soil, and Sangiovese grown produce wines that are a little darker, fuller bodied and richer than most Tuscan wines but with that tell-tale black cherry freshness that makes Sangiovese so wonderfully food friendly.
Rosso is the lightest of the Avignonese reds—a bit like a baby Vino Nobile. 100% Sangiovese, the wine is aged in aok for five months, and is deliciously red fruited and balanced. On the nose wild cherry, red currant and a touch of earth. Lovely structured fruit on the palate too
