Closerie des Bories 2012
Nicolas Thienpont is a name synonymous with fine Bordeaux. He manages several top estates and it’s thanks to his talents that Château Pavie Macquin achieved Saint-Émilion ‘first growth’ status. His family own Le Pin and Vieux Château Certan in Pomerol among others. Nicolas’ family bought Château Puygueraud in 1946 and it has since become the reference point estate of the appellation. Francs Côtes de Bordeaux is the smallest of all Bordeaux appellations and enjoys a privileged location immediately to the east of Saint-Émilion, and this is made from 100% Merlot.
Aged in barrel for 12 months and with extended bottle ageing, this has a fruity nose with dark cherries and lovely richness on the palate. Suave and polished with soft, supple tannins and good freshness and grip on the finish.
