Barac Barbera d'Alba 2015 Superiore
We found this estate when Matt went to a wine buying trip in Piemonte. Arneis is the best known local variety and this is a lovely example.
After Nebbiolo Barbera is the best known grape variety in Piemonte, and although Nebbiolo is considered the king of Piemonte this can make absolutely delicious, bright and fresh, food friendly wines. Especially if it’s given enough care and time and the grapes come from a top site. This is exactly the case here, the wine is aged in used barrels for a year, followed by another 6 months in bottle. This is quite rare and the result is incredible value for money! Red and black fruits with a touch of vanilla and clove spice. Full bodied, with crunchy tannins and refreshing acidity.
