Ravaut Aloxe Corton 1er Cru 17
The Ravaut family have been tending vines at their domaine, based around the hill of Corton, for six generations. It was Vincent and Pierre’s grandfather (known as ‘the Uncle’) who, in the 1920s, took the radical step of changing from bulk to bottling and selling wines himself. He started by supplying family and local friends, but by 1936 had won a Gold at Paris. Today the brothers continue the work of their grandfather and are gaining a great reputation.
Wine Spectator describes wines from this century old estate as “bursting with ripe fruit, pure, bordering on exotic”. No wonder, when they have vineyards stretching up the hill of Corton.
