Estate Argyros Oak Fermented Assyrtiko 2016
Located on the Greek island of Santorini, it is the volcanic composition of the island which lends wines produced here such minerality. Traditionally vines are cultivated low to the ground in a distinctive basket shape to help protect them from strong winds. Assyrtiko is the main grape variety here, and the vines used to produce this wine are 150 years old. As the name would suggest, the wine as aged in well used French oak for 6 months. Ithandles the oak beautifully, producing a really elegant, bright and lively wine, with a little flintiness on the finish.
