Hugel Riesling 2007 Schoelhammer
A wonderful dry Alsatian Riesling with some bottle age, taking on that wonderful petrol aroma particular to the amazing Riesling grape.
Jancis Robinson: "This, the debut release of Schoelhammer, picked almost as early as the 2003 from 7 September, is drinking beautifully now. There is still some chewiness and very good acidity but a delightfully open nose. Dense on the palate with a lightly floral suggestion. It was allowed to ferment until it wanted to stop: at between 5 and 6g/l residual sugar, so slightly sweeter than either the 2009 and 2008." 18pts
