Chave Hermitage Blanc 2000
Jean Louis Chave is one of our favourite producers in the Rhone Valley and we always like putting his wine on tasting. But its not everyday we get to taste his white wine. Only 1/4 of his Hermitage vineyards are planted with white grapes—Marsanne and Rousanne. The wine is aged for up to 2 years in old oak barrels before bottling.
Julia Harding MW: "Even more honeyed than the 2011 and here it’s spiced like heather honey. But there’s apricot and bitter orange too, maybe even barley sugar but without the sweetness. Long and savoury with that spiced-honey flavour going on ad infinitum." 95 points
