Chave Hermitage Blanc 2005
Jean Louis Chave is one of our favourite producers in the Rhone Valley and we always like putting his wine on tasting. But its not everyday we get to taste his white wine. Only 1/4 of his Hermitage vineyards are planted with white grapes—Marsanne and Rousanne. The wine is aged for up to 2 years in old oak barrels before bottling.
Robert Parker: "The 2005 Hermitage blanc is an amazing effort that defines the classic style of white Hermitage. It offers hints of marzipan, roasted hazelnuts, quince, licorice, honeysuckle, citrus oil, and wet stones. It is a superbly concentrated and powerful wine. It should drink well for 30+ years." 96 points
