Chantal Remy Morey Saint Denis Clos des Rosiers Monopole 2012
A hidden gem of a winery—quite unknown but making soft and silky wines that age well. In 1989 Lalou
Bize–Leroy purchased the Philippe Remy estate and the Remy name disappeared from the Burgundian landscape. A branch of the family remained in Morey St Denis with wonderful vineyards in the village Aux Cheseaux. Philippe’s niece Chantal took over the winery in the nineties and is making a wonderful reputation for her wines.
Relatively pale. So perfumed you almost think you should dab it behind the ears. Very juicy and fun with very soft tannins and lots of sweetness. It does have a richness on the finish and is sheer flirtation. It sort of reminds me of a mansion-block flat. Or perhaps the dressing table therein. The opposite of fresh but certainly arresting. Madame suggested tasting this after the Chambertin!
Region: Burgundy, France
Grape: Pinot Noir
