Sake is brewed from rice, not unlike a beer. There is no ‘juice’ as such, so to call it a wine is not entirely accurate. However the properties of the drink are more akin to a wine (acidity, alcohol level, flavours) than a beer. Honjozo is the first of two quality levels after the basic ‘junmai’ sakes.
Savoury nose with banana and mushroom. Touch vegetal. Medium bodied and just off dry. Touch of spice and a refreshing bitterness.
