Doniene Txakoli Barrel Ferment 2016
This is a new find from Ben and a is a real rarity to find it in the UK. Doniene was formed by 3 friends who rescued and modernized an ancient winery that was a bit dilapidated. They are located in
Txakoli Bizkaiko, based in the north-western part of the Basque country.
Similar in fruit notes to the Gorrondona but showing a little more ripe citrus due to the vintage
difference. Here the wine has been fermented in new French oak and aged for 3 months on it’s lees. This gives some more roundness to the wine, a little more weight and some nutty aromas and flavours. Excellent balance of acidity and lovely texture.
Region: Txakoli, Spain
Grape: Hondarrabi Zuri
