Frogs Leap Chardonnay 2009 Frog’s Leap is an organic winery in Napa Valley. Their moto is , “time s fun when you’re having flies”. I don’t entirely get it but I
presume it’s about frogs.
They’ve abandoned the trend of big oak and butter for crisp acidity and a bright finish.
Lots of green apple, apricot and citrus aromas and flavours with a hint of vanilla. Refreshingly crisp with tart acidity and a clean, lingering finish.
Grape: Chardonnay

Customer Reviews
Average rating: | A step up in quality, 3rd Jun 2010 | Reviewer: Ben Mandler | I don't know if this wine has seen any oak, but it certainly doesn't show. I don't know about anyone else but to me this smells overwhelmingly of Dandelion & Burdock, which I love. Also has the classic citrus and unripe apple lying behind it. Fresh on the palate, alcohol well-balanced, smooth and clean though the finish could be longer. | | A bit of a surprise..., 26th Jun 2010 | Reviewer: Chris Colunga | This Chardonney is matured in a combination of stainless steel (22%) and French Oak (78%). Additionally the winery puts it to bed sweet over the winter and they actively try to prevent the maloactic fermentation. The result is surprisingly crisp lean fruit; pear/apple flavours, decent minerality, not much oak, and a medium finish. |
