Aldo Conterno Barolo 2004 Rather than join his brother, Giovanni, run the family estate, Aldo struck out on his own in 1969. There is a strong contrast between the two; Giovanni is very traditional, turns out benchmark Barolo under the Giacomo Conterno label, whereas Aldo is a more affable character, His wines are fine examples of Nebbiolo, and although they differ from those of his brother, it would be wrong to describe them as other than traditional Barolo.
Quite a forward 2004 that is drinking well now. Feminine in style with soft red cherry fruit and long length. An excellent example from this historic vintage.
