It’s not everyday you see Beaujolais for nearly £30, but this is something different. Many of the mass produced wines of Beaujolais can be uninspiring but Jean Foillard has managed to do something special with his wines. With no fining, filtration or sulphur added to preserve the wines, he is very much a proponent of ‘natural’ wine.
Delicate but brimming with vivacity and joy. Fleurie is generally a lighter style of Beaujolais with a distinctive floral note. This is slightly heavier than most but still has that hint of violet and hedgerow blossom. Lovely.
