Bernabe Navarro Beryna 2008 Alicante is not a wine-producing region of Spain you often hear of—being overshadowed by neighbouring Jumilla and Yecla. But here at The Sampler we like hunting out new and exciting wines and were bowled over when we first tasted the Beryna wines. Bernabe Navarro specialises in Monastrell, but also grow Tempranillo, Cabernet and Syrah at altitudes of 550m which helps to off-set the extreme heat in this part of Spain.
Made predominately from Monastrell, this is a full bodied wine with plenty of dark fruits, morello cherry and a touch of clove and spice. Full bodied, this is a wine to pair with a Sunday night pepperoni pizza.
Grape: Monastrell
