Guigal La Turque 1996 La Turque is one of the three legendary “La La’s” made by Guigal that are extremely rare and unfortunately extremely expensive (although, at £260, this is the cheapest of the three in this vintage!)
Robert Parker: “The 1996 Cote Rotie La Turque is not a blockbuster in the style of the 1995, but it is still sensational stuff. It was the last vineyard to be harvested by Guigal, and one can detect an extraordinary cassis character intermixed with pepper, Asian spices, and aromas of incense. The wine possesses amazing length, richness, and overall balance, without any of the tart acidity so common in this vintage. Guigal is one of the cellars where the wines always taste better after they are bottled than they do from cask, although as the scores in this segment indicate, some profound wines can be found in the 1994, 1995, and 1996 vintages Chez Guigal.” 95 points
