Badoz 1/2 Vin de Paille 2006 This is part of our new range of wines from the Jura. Ju-what I hear you say - well, it’s in the east of France, not too far from Burgundy and is a very beautiful hilly, green and fertile region with some great cheese. Vin de Paille literally translates as straw wine, so no, it’s not made from straw but the Savagnin grapes are left to dry on straw mats for at least six weeks to concentrate the sugars and the flavours.
This is a stunning alternative to the usual stickies as you really get a taste of the straw mats on which they’ve dried! There’s a hint of bitter orange and dried apricot and it’s clean and uncloying. Best drunk with a fruit tart I’m told.
Grape: Savagnin
