Boer and Brit General 2009 The two winemakers here are descended from two generals who fought in the Boer war—one on the side of the Brits and one on the side of the Boers! Happily their grandchildren have put aside historical differences and decided to make some wine instead. ‘The General’ is a blend of the forgotten Bordeaux grape varieties—Petit Verdot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc.
Deep, dark and smoky on the nose—close your eyes and think of bonfire night. This is a really lovely South African red, lots of flavour and great value. Get the braai going!
