Alois Kracher is one of the world’s great sweet wine makers. He is a patient man with a strong character who sits and waits for the rain and fog to provide the right conditions for botrytis to hit the ripe grapes whilst nervously having to protect the vines from being attacked by hungry birds. Thankfully 2002 was one of his best vintages and the birds didn’t get a look in.
