Quinta de Chocapalha 2007 From Vinho Regional Lisboa (as the renamed Estremadura region is now known) Quinta de Chocapalha is one of Portugal’s hottest up-and-coming names. They produce a host of different wines from some of Portugal’s indigenous grape varieties but this one is made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Rich, dark fruits on the nose with notes of coffee, dark chocolate and a herbal mintiness. The palate is beautifully smooth and full of ripe fruit flavours along with undertones of fennel and dill herbal notes. There is a surprising elegance to this—it is in no way a fruit bomb.
