Schoech Harmonie R 2008 Domaine Maurice Schoech is located in the Grand Cru village of Ammerschwirh in Alsace. This is an unusual wine—it is a blend of Riesling, Gewurztraminer and Pinot Gris that have been co-planted in the renowned Rangan de Thann vineyard. As such, because it is not 100% Riesling, it cannot call itself Rangen de Thann Grand Cru—and so is a simple ‘R’.
This a rich, exotic wine with just a hint of sweetness. Notes of ripe golden pineapple and tangerine mingle with a touch of spice and a smoky mineral backbone. This is a really interesting and unusal Alsatian white and would be a great match for Asian food.
Grapes: Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer
