Cotat La Grande Cote 2009 Francois Cotat’s domaine is based in one of the greatest of all the Sancerre villages, Chavignol, where he creates very unusual wines. Late picked, then barrel fermented using indigenous yeasts, these are a unique expression of Sancerre, and his best wines can age for decades.
Erobertparker.com: “Pear, Persian melon, and marzipan in the nose of Francois Cotat’s 2009 Sancerre La Grand Cote set the stage for a lush, soothingly glycerin-rich, subtly creamy palate with a “cooling” suffusion of mint and chamomile. This does a remarkable job of hiding its 15% alcohol, and its sweetness is well-integrated and merely subtle. I would still focus on 4-6 years out if I were going to cellar some, and of course it will need to be employed creatively in order to find interesting matches at table.” 90 points
