Dervieux-Thaize Cote Rotie La Valliere

This is made by one of Cote Rotie’s greatest names—Rene Rostaing. He inherited the La Viallere vineyard from his father-in-law Albert Dervieux-Thaize in 1990. It is now one of his four cuvees of Cote Rotie and has a large portion of old vine fruit in it.

Notes of chargrilled meat, smoky bacon, oak spice and dark fruits greet the nose. The palate is soft but with lots of character. Again, smoky dried meats and oak spice predominate along with mature notes of leather and earth. Complex and inviting, this is certain to evolve further in the glass.
