Les Larmes de Divona Rge 2009
Les Larmes de Divona Tonnerre rouge
Admirers of our grower champagnes may recognise the Beaufort name—but this is not Andre Beaufort, but Amaury—one of his 7 (!) sons. This is a red wine made from Tonnerre in Burgundy—a small town not far from Chablis. It is a natural wine—made with minimal intervention and with zero added sulphur.
Well this certainly isn’t your standard burgundian Pinot Noir! Very pale in colour with a slightly bizarre aroma reminiscent of cider. But don’t let that put you off. The palate has a real delicacy and subtleness to it—this is the exact opposite to those blockbuster style wines. It certainly doesn’t shout, but if you can work through the gossamer veils of restraint, there’s a real beauty of a wine here.
