Merchien JAS VDP Lot 2008 An unususal wine to say the least—found on The Sampler’s recent expedition to the South west of France. Domaine du Merchien is actually owned by a couple of Brits, and their wines are also amongst the most characterful and good value wines in all of France. All of the wines are handled extremely naturally and have very limited additions of sulphur.
This is a blend of 33% Jurancon Noir, 33% Abouriou (I thought that was a rice, but apparently not) and 33% Syrah. The result is brilliant – fresh, pure, delicate yet
concentrated. Really perfumed and the kind of wine that we love.
Grapes: Jurancon, Abouriou, Syrah
750ml Vintage: 2008 |
