Butler&Nephew 10yo Tawny Butler and Nephew used to be one of the top names in Port, but over the years has been passed around a bit, like an unloved dog. Christies Port recently acquired the house and are happily restoring it to its former glory. We really like their ports, and think they are a port producer to watch.
Tawny port is aged in oak barrels for an extensive amount of time (10 years in this case). This results in a port of lighter colour with less red fruit character, more spicy and nutty flavours. This is a great example and has all that with some dried fruit and brown sugar notes as well. Serve chilled.
