Creyssels Eleve en Futs 2007 A red wine from Picpoul in the Languedoc. This is quite unusual as Picpoul is more famous for it’s light, crisp lemony white wine, named helpfully—Picpoul. In fact Picpoul de Pinet is the only French appellation named after it’s grape rather than the region.
Anyway this red is mainly cabernet with some merlot and cinsault. It’s a medium bodied juicy wine with good levels of tannin which provide structure. There is oodles of black fruit courtesy of merlot and cabernet and red fruit and a lifted floral note thanks to cinsault. An excellent example of team work.
Grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cinsault
