Musar 1980 Michael Broadbent has this introduction to the Chateau Musar chapter in his legendary book Vintage Wine: “Why include a wine from Lebanon, and why Chateau Musar? First of all because the wine is excellent and distinctive, albeit indiosyncratic. Its grapes are grown in the Bekaa Valley, the breadbasket of ancient Rome, and transported over the high coastal range to be turned into a great wine by something of a genius, Serge Hochar.”
This has distinct herbal notes both on the nose and palate along with an incredibly long length of plums and dried cherries.
