Andreas Adam’s winery is a really tiny place in the Mosel, and with only three and a half hectares the total production comes up to 650 cases per year. We were very impressed with the quality of the wines. Andreas thinks that 2011 is a great vintage and may well be similar to 1971, 1921, 1911, three very famously excellent years.
On smelling this wine I am inclined to believe him! What a rich nose, packed with honeysuckle and ripe apricot, but still with a lovely undertone of citrus. This is wine has to be what the nectar of the Gods tastes like— ripe stone fruit, honey, lemon zest, a lingering floral note, just beautiful. It’s just going to get better and better as it ages as well, with a mouthwatering acidity and freshness that promises this wine is just going to improve forever. Not sure it’ll last that long in this shop…
