12 Volts 2011
4 kilos is a winery in Mallorca that is really making waves in the Spanish wine scene for its fresh and fruity reds from a region few people know. The 12 volts is made from 30% of the indigenous Callet –Fogoneu grape (no, we hadn’t heard of it either), 30% Cabernet, 30% Syrah, and the rest Merlot.
Young, fresh and appealing, this is something a bit different, oodles of ripe red fruit but with a gorgeous savoury undertone, and lovely integrated oak with smooth tannins and a firm backbone. Gorgeous stuff, and with a label to get you talking.
