This winery offers a genuine glimpse in to the traditional past of Piedmont wines. Situated in Nizza Monferrato, Guasti Clemente are in the heart of quality territory for Barbera, a variety they are happy to champion alongside the more prestigious Nebbiolo wines in their range. Fermentations are in a combination of stainless steel and large old vats where the aging also takes place - not a barrique in sight. Their top end barbera is from a single vineyard planted in the 1940s who’s current release is 2010. These are old fashioned yet accessible wines for the region, and the barbera bottle with its traditional straw and wax label is great.
