Current owners David and Olivia Marco Abella took over the family estate in Priorat during 2001 moving things forward significantly with the installation of a new, gravity fed winery, conversion of the vineyards to organic viticulture with biodynamic principles also employed, and separate vinification of individual plots all on native yeasts. The resulting wines are stunningly expressive and we think offer some of the best you can find in the region yet without a three figure price tag. Loidana is aged for 12 months in oak, Mas Mallola is aged for 20 months in French oak barrels from five different coopers and Clos Abella is aged for 24 months in French oak, and matured in bottle at the estate for two years. The Olbia is quite a rarity (800 bottles) as white grapes are very scarce in Priorat.
