Hudelot-Baillet Bonnes Mares 16
Hudelot-Baillet is relatively a new Domaine by Burgundian standards, having started in 1981. They’re very rarely seen outside France and they’re quite an exciting discovery for us, as we think they’re great quality and value.
Neil Martin: "The 2016 Bonnes Mares Grand Cru consists of two barrels. Again, the aromatics are very closed at the moment: deep broody dark fruit, briary, subtle violet notes eked out with vigorous swirling of the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannin, a fine bead of acidity, quite pure and nicely structured with a candied, cassis and black cherry finish that lingers long in the mouth. I like the elegance here when it could have just tipped over into blowsiness. Excellent." 92-94 points
