Chantal Remy Latricieres Chambertin Grand Cru 2011
A hidden gem of a winery—quite unknown but making soft and silky wines that age well. In 1989 Lalou
Bize– Leroy purchased the Philippe Remy estate and the Remy name disappeared from the Burgundian landscape. A branch of the family remained in Morey St Denis with wonderful vineyards in the village Aux Cheseaux. Philippe’s niece Chantal took over the winery in the 90’s and is making a wonderful reputation for her wines.
Typically more reserved and brooding than the Clos de la Roche, earthy crushed stone and mineral flavours, fruit notes of fresh crunchy red berry and currant, touches of plum, brooding intense and focused, dense but sumptuous, velvety tannins. A magnificent year for Latricières; a much cooler terroir than Clos de la Roche, this is often rather austere and reticent in its youth but blossoms with age.
