Rene Leclerc Griotte Chambertin Grand Cru 2013
Domaine Leclerc (est. 1962) is a historic 20-acre vineyard in Gevrey Chambertin, and consists of some of the finest vineyards in the appellation, renowned for the age of their vines that are typically 50-80 years old.
Elegant, brooding and powerful, this ’13 Griotte Chambertin is a wonderful evocation of its seductive, exclusive appellation. Succulent red fruits rest on a sauvage bed of underbrush, baking spices, cigar wrapper, crushed flower petals, mocha and game. Showing perfect balance between its polished tannins, fresh acidity and sweet perfume, this nicely weighty wine oscillates between its elements with grace, building to a long, lingering finish.
