Timo Mayer has just 2.5 hectares. All his wines come from his Bloody Hill vineyard, named for its incredible steepness (making it bloody difficult to work).
This is as the name suggests from a densely planted vineyard. He likes to use whole bunches, giving a stalky savouriness, a hallmark of his wines. Really expressive, with sappy, spice notes weaved through sweet and incredibly silky crushed red berry fruit. A delicious pinot noir.
Region: Australia, Yarra Valley
