Bott-Geyl Riesling Grand Cru d'Alsace Schoenenbourg 2016
Jean-Christophe learnt biodynamic farming and wine making from Leonard Humbrecht, so it's no surprise that these wines are fantastic and he's fast becoming a rising star in Alsace. Jean-Christophe makes long fermentations, between 3 and 9 months! , creating lots of complex flavours. The resulting wines are incredibly expressive and complex, and certainly among the best in the region. He also releases his wines whne he thinks they are ready, so current releases are between 3 and 7 years old, adding extra complexity.
While the Schoenenburg vineyard is known for producing bigger styles, Jean-Christope manages to produce a more elegant, graceful style by harvesting a little earlier. Alsace Riesling at its finest, with tropical fruit, lime and chamomile notes rounded off by refreshing, tangy acidity.
