First Drop Mother’s Ruin 2017
A delicious, restrained, well balanced expression of McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon, an ode to a 'luncheon claret'. Picked early from a vineyard in the Willunga foothills, and aged in French oak for 15 months. The label is a homage to William Hogarth’s ‘Gin Lane’, hence the name.
Copyright JancisRobinson.com: "Deep cherry red with soft rim. Intense aroma of cassis and cassis leaf - pure, slightly chocolatey Cabernet with a very attractive herbaceous/capsicum quality but not in the least unripe. Juicy, pure and full of lively black fruit. The tannins are already surprisingly smooth and it is fresh even with such fruit intensity. Lively and peppery on the palate with a mouth-watering freshness on the finish.
Region: McLaren Vale, Australia
Grape: Cabernet Sauvignon
