JJ Prum Wehlener Sonnenuhr
Riesling Auslese 2007
JJ Prum vies with Egon Muller’s Sharzhofberger Rieslings for the title of the world’s greatest, on top of this, 2007 is an exceptional vintage, and is also the first vintage that the unwieldy “Mosel-Saar-Ruwer” regional distinction gave way to the simpler “Mosel” on the bottle, bringing delight to tasting note writers across the world. Wehlen is the village where this wine is produced, while Sonnenuhr is an “Erste Lage” vineyard - a little like a premier cru site in Burgundy, given high status due to its terroir.
A fresh lime and grapefruit nose tinged with that classic Mosel petrol and a bright streak of minerality, leading to a good clean but rich palate with bundles of ripe fruit freshness and balanced acidity. Quality excellent Riesling, with a beautifully long finish.
